Marinapark Houthaven

Marinapark Houthaven in Zaandam seamlessly brings together residential living, recreation, hospitality, and waterfront leisure. TThe site, situated next to the historic centre, has a rich history and lies in an old bend of the River Zaan, a former 19th-century timber harbour where Scandinavian timber was unloaded. That history served as the inspiration not only for the use of timber in the construction of the boardwalk and the new buildings, but also for the lighting along the 300-metre-long boardwalk.

Architect Jaco Woltjer of woltjer/berkhout architects designed the urban development plan and the layout plan. Together with our distribution partner Van Hees Infratechniek, he also designed a lighting column reminiscent of a traditional ship’s mast. The distinctive conical design took shape in a special version of our ICON. Crafted from FSC-certified cumaru hardwood and paired with a sleek, curved metal fixture, these posts form a durable lighting solution. The design complements the nautical atmosphere of the park while blending naturally with the environment.

This project was realised by our salespartner Van Hees Infratechniek.

“The amount of light is just right. You walk from one patch of light to the next. Timberlab has captured that feeling perfectly.”
