Sensory objects

Timberlab’s sensory objects excite the senses in every possible way, and in the outdoor space. This makes them a very suitable addition to playgrounds, parks and care locations. For both children and adults with intellectual disabilities or dementia, a beautiful way to interact with the environment.

Wood types for sensory objects

Our objects are available in finely sawn oak, rustic chestnut, or rough and unsawn chestnut. All our wood types are sustainable and last – depending on the type – for 10 to 25 years. Besides oak, chestnut wood is widely used for our sensory objects. Our chestnut wood comes from France or England and is a beautiful robust wood type. It is a tree species that grows fairly quickly and yet yields hard wood. Chestnut wood is naturally very durable because it contains a lot of tannin and therefore falls into durability classes I – II. This means that the wood can last for 15 to 25 years!
